RAYMOND VASILAS AND KYLE SULLIVAN ALL-AMERICA SELECTIONS
Aug. 14th, 2005 - Two Eckerd College mens lacrosse players were selected to the MDIA-B Division All-America teams.  Raymond Vasilas was selected for First Team Attack, and Kyle Sullivan was selected for Third Team Midfield.  94 teams participated nationally in the 2006 MDIA-B Division.  Congratulations to Ray and Kyle.

ECKERD SUFFERS A TOUGH DEFEAT IN THE SEMIS TO ST JOHNS U.
May. 12th, 2006 - The Eckerd mens lacrosse team lost to #3 ranked St John's University (Minnesota) 10-9 in the national semifinals. Eckerd erased an early 3-0 deficit after the first quarter to score five unanswered goals in the second. The score was 5-4 at the half with Eckerd in the lead.  In the second half both teams traded goals until St John's tied the game and took over the lead with two goals that redirected off Eckerd players.  Eckerd controlled the ball for the last two minutes of the game and had four opportunities to even the score, but was unable to convert

ECKERD DEFEATS #2 RANKED UTAH VALLEY STATE 22-10
May. 11th, 2006 - Eckerd defeated #2 ranked Utah Valley State 22-10 in the national quarterfinals today to advance to the semifinal round on Friday May 12th to face #3 ranked St John's University from Minnesota.
Against UVS, Eckerd fell to an early 0-2 deficit but responded quickly to take over the lead and control every aspect of the game until the final whistle.  Raymond Vasilas finished the game with 10 goals and 2 assists, and again broke the B division single game records with 10 goals and with 12 points.
#1 ranked University of San Diego will face #5 ranked Montana in the other semifinal game.  The winners will advance to the national championships game on Saturday at 2:00pm EST.

ECKERD DEFEATS AGUSTANA TO ADVANCE TO QUARTERFINAL ROUND
May. 10th, 2006 - Eckerd College defeated Augustana College 18-10 today to advance to the quarterfinals to face #2 seed Utah Valley State College on Thursday at 5:30pm EST.
Against Augustana, Eckerd jumped to an early 7-2 lead before Augustana staged a comeback to pull within 1 at halftime with a game score of 8-7 going into the half. Augustana tied the game 8-8 early in the second half on an extra man advantage due to a late second quarter Eckerd penalty, but that was the closest they would come to pulling off the upset. Eckerd regained the momentum by responding with 8 goals to Augustana's 1 in the third quarter, and finished the game out with an 18-10 victory. Raymond Vasilas finished the game with 9 total points (6 goals, 3 assists). 9 points in a game and 6 goals in a game are both B division national tournament records.  (9 points breaks the former record of 7, and 6 goals ties the existing record)

ECKERD COLLEGE READY FOR FIRST NATIONAL CONTEST
May. 10th, 2006 - The Eckerd College mens lacrosse team departed Tampa, FL Tuesday at 6:00am on a flight bound for Dallas, TX to compete in it's first ever appearance in the USL-MDIA B mens lacrosse national championship tournament.  In the first round today Eckerd will face #10 seed Augustana College (Illinois) at 2:00pm EST.  With a win Eckerd will advance to the second round on Thursday to face #2 seed Utah Valley State at 5:30pm EST. Twelve teams will be competing in the division, with Eckerd entering as the #7 seed.
Two other collegiate divisions are also competing for a national championship in Dallas. The mens A division, with 16 teams, has the Florida State University mens team representing the state of Florida, and the womens division (WDIA), also including 16 teams from across the nation, has the University of Florida womens team representing the state of Florida.

May. 7th, 2006 - In August of 2005, ECOS (Eckerd College Organization of Students) president Craig Atlemose delivered a speech to incoming Eckerd College freshman that was inspired by the passion of Eckerd College mens lacrosse captains Ray Vasilas and Kyle Sullivan link.

SIX ECKERD PLAYERS SELECTED FOR SELC ALL-CONFERENCE HONORS
Apr. 24th, 2006 - Six Eckerd players were awarded SELC-B All-Conference Team honors for the 2006 regular season, (Raymond Vasilas, Anthony Vasilas, Kyle Sullivan, Rob Clipper, Justin Roberts, and Branden Shane). Raymond Vasilas was also voted the conference Most Outstanding Offensive Player.  For the conference championship tournament, five players were voted to the All-Tournament Team, (Raymond Vasilas, Brian Cartlidge, Anthony Vasilas, Kyle Sullivan, and Andrew Paxton). Raymond Vasilas was also voted the tournaments Most Valuable Offensive Player, and Brian Cartlidge was voted the tournaments Most Valuable Defensive Player.  link

ECKERD MENS LACROSSE WINS SELC-B CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP
Apr. 23rd, 2006 - Eckerd College defeated Elon University on Sunday 14-12 in another thrilling game to win the SELC-B championship.  Eckerd led 9-5 at the half and controlled most of the first two quarters.  Elon responded in the second half by scoring five unanswered goals to take over the lead.  In the fourth quarter Eckerd began to regain the momentum and scored five goals to Elon's two to put the game away.  Eckerd will now travel to Dallas, TX for the national championships May 9th to 13th.

ECKERD DEFEATS APPALACHIAN STATE IN SELC SEMIFINAL GAME
Apr. 22nd, 2006 - Eckerd College defeated Appalachian State in a thrilling 13-12 victory today at the SELC championships in Duluth, GA.  The game was tied 4-4 at the end of the first half, then in the second half both teams took turns exchanging goals until early in the 4th quarter when Appalachian jumped to a 10-7 lead.  Eckerd then responded with 6 goals late in the 4th quarter to seal a 13-12 victory.  The win also marks coach Tony Collette's 100th career victory. Eckerd will now face Elon University in the SELC Championship game on Sunday April 23rd at 12:15pm.....more

ECKERD LACROSSE HEADING TO THE SELC CHAMPIONSHIPS
Apr. 17th, 2006 - The undefeated Eckerd College mens lacrosse team has been invited to the SELC Conference Final Four to be held in Atlanta, GA this weekend April 22nd and 23rd.  On Saturday Eckerd will play Appalachian State at 12:15pm, and an earlier game between Elon University and Savannah College will be played at 10:00am.  The winners of Saturday's games will meet on Sunday for the Conference Championship game. The winner of that game will then receive an automatic bid to the National Championship tournament in Dallas, TX in May. 

ECKERD LAX SWEEPS IN VIRGINIA
Apr. 15th, 2006 - Eckerd lax traveled to Lynchburg, VA to face Southern University and Liberty University over the weekend.  On Friday night Eckerd defeated Southern Virginia University by a score of 24 to 4, then on Saturday defeated Liberty University 22 to 4.  The two wins give Eckerd a 9 and 0 record on the season, and likely a number one seed at the conference finals next weekend in Atlanta, GA. 

ECKERD LAX TRAVEL TO LYNCHBURG, VIRGINIA
Apr. 13th, 2006 - The Eckerd mens team will travel to Lynchburg, VA this weekend, April 14th, to face Liberty University and Southern Virginia University.  The two games will be the final regular season games for Eckerd as they head into this weekend with a 7 and 0 record.   

ECKERD COLLEGE LAX RANKED #8 IN THE NATION
Apr. 8th, 2006 - Eckerd College moved up to 8th in the recent USL MDIA-B poll, and 1st in the SELC conference. Eckerd is traveling to Alabama this weekend April 8th to play the University of Alabama.  USL MDIA-B top 25 link

ECKERD LAX RANKED #12 BY THE USL MDIA-B DIVISION POLL
Mar. 9th, 2005 -  The recent poll released on March 9th votes Eckerd lax as #12 in the nation. The poll also indicates that Eckerd College is currently ranked #2 in the SELC B conference.

ECKERD LAX RANKED #20 BY THE USL MDIA-B DIVISION POLL
Feb. 23rd, 2005 -  The Eckerd lacrosse team enters the national poll at #20 for the first poll of the 2006 season.

ECKERD LAX RANKED #1 NATIONALLY BY LAXPOWER.COM
Feb. 15th, 2005 -  The Eckerd College lacrosse team is currently ranked #1 in the nation by laxpower.com.  The USL-MDIA B national rankings will be posted on February 23rd. 

ECKERD LAX VICTORIOUS IN SELC DEBUT
Feb. 12th, 2005 -  The Eckerd College lacrosse team defeated Emory University 13 to 9 and Savannah College 16 to 10 over the weekend in Savannah, GA.  Both games were the first for Eckerd College after moving to the USL-MDIA.

ECKERD COLLEGE LACROSSE TO MOVE TO THE SELC (USLIA)
Sept. 19th, 2005 -  Eckerd College Lacrosse has officially moved to the SELC (South East Lacrosse Conference) of the USLIA (US Lacrosse Intercollegiate Association) for the 2006 season.  Eckerd will join the B Division and compete against opponents such as The University of Alabama, Emory University, Savannah College, The Citadel, and Furman.
Practice for the 2006 season will begin in late January, with league games scheduled to begin in February.  Eckerd will also scrimmage local area teams in the fall of 2005.
