The Tigers Lacrosse Club is now officially Jesuit High School Lacrosse!  In 2006, school officials announced that they would officially accept the team as a high school club sport for the 2007 season.  With this, the team officially has access to not only the Jesuit name, but also to school facilities.  The days of practicing at Al Lopez Park with dog walkers, joggers, and roller bladers are now behind us!

The Jesuit High School lacrosse club was started in 2003 by two freshman, Curtis Diaz and Ricky Phelps.  The team began its first practice with 13 players, but by the end of the season finished with 25.  That number has grown considerably over the past few years with player signups in 2007 reaching 110 players.

In 2003, the Tigers finished with the best record in the Tampa Bay area (5-1).  The 2003 season was also the first year for high school lacrosse in the area, so league playoffs were not planned for that year, nor did the league even have a name.  With the huge success for the league in that first season, the league was officially formed in 2004 and named the West Florida Lacrosse League.

In 2004, the Tigers won the West Florida Lacrosse League (WFLL) championship and finished the season with only one loss, which was an overtime loss to Wesley Chapel.

In 2005, the Tigers repeated as the West Florida Lacrosse League champions and went on to the Florida State Club Championship and lost a close game to the Weston Lacrosse Club from South Florida.  With the Tigers only in their third season of play at the time, and with the Weston team in their 10th season, the Tigers held their heads high realizing the great accomplishment for not only the team, but for the early success of the West Florida Lacrosse League.

2006 was another great season for the Tigers. The Tigers were featured on Catch 47 TV several times including a great win over Plant HS, who would go on to win the League & State Championships. The Tigers Varsity team led the league in All-Star selections including Attackman of the Year - Curtis Diaz and Midfielder of the Year - Dennis McSweeney. The season ended with a disappointing loss to Wesley Chapel in the semi-finals, but everyone's spirits were lifted by Father Doyle's post game announcement of Jesuit High School picking up lacrosse as a school sponsored sport.
